The International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (ISSOTL) serves faculty members, staff, and students who care about teaching and learning as serious intellectual work. The goal of the Society is to foster inquiry and disseminate findings about what improves and articulates post-secondary learning and teaching.

The latest ISSoTL Newsletter is available at http://www.issotl.org, click “Newsletter,” and then click “Download the current issue (May 2007)” at the very top.

There are several interesting features, including a reflective piece by Randy Bass, the organiser of the 2006 conference, where he addresses the seemingly contrasting dominant themes in the feedback pulling in two different directions – more quality, selectivity, and rigor on the one hand; and more community, collaboration, interactivity, and informality on the other.

There are also articles on the establishment of the National Academy for the Integration of Research and Teaching and Learning in Ireland and the ‘Growth of History SOTL’. The outline programme for ISSoTL 2007 in Sydney is also given.
