Taking place on Monday afternoons throughout semester one of the 2008/9 academic year, a programme of ten workshops, several ‘curriculum cafés’, and a half-day ‘employability’ event will help department heads and subject and programme leaders (or their representatives) to learn more about recent research and developments in curriculum design, ranging from assessment, creativity, and enquiry-based learning to PDP, enterprise, and blended learning.

Workshops will be led by nationally-recognised guest speakers who will draw on their knowledge and experiences, as well as those of BSU staff, to generate discussion and help staff address some of the key challenges of improving students’ learning experiences and outcomes.

Curriculum Cafes will be facilitated by members of the undergraduate modular scheme working group, available to offer advice and guidance. These open sessions will provide staff with opportunities to reflect on workshops and share ideas, plans and progress with colleagues from other disciplines.

The 1812 Group reconvenes one year on, providing all staff with a further opportunity to share progress and discover the wealth of activity being undertaken internally, across the University, and externally in the realm of employability, enterprise and entrepreneurship.
