A masterclass with Precarious Co-Artistic Director Karla Shacklock took place on 31 March 2009. This was part of a masterclass series supported by the Artswork PerformanceLab and the PLARM Gateway Professional Seminar. This masterclass provided insight into how to set up and successfully run a mid-scale performance company. Karla discussed the journey from Precarious initial conception to becoming an award winning, nationally acclaimed, touring company. The masterclass also provided specific information on managing a performance company, applying for funding, holding auditions, touring, and making the jump from small to mid scale. This was of particular help to ‘Launchpad’ applicants.
