Kat hope to work for a production company when she leaves Bath Spa and is currently arranging work experience with Bruce Dunlop Associates with offices in London, Dubai and Sydney. Kat has just been commissioned to do a documentary with Widcombe Studios on Lower Bristol Road which she hopes to start around January. Kat’s Film Commission Details

“I was doing some life modeling with David Cobley, founder of Widcombe studios throughout last year and ended up with a list of artists with whom I was working. Contacts, always! David knew about my film interest and asked me whether I would consider making a documentary PR film for the studios, ‘as part of my learning’ he said. Code for: I’m not going to get paid. However, I had a meeting with him about a month ago and he asked me to quote him and he’ll put it to the committee! How to quote someone for something I’ve never charged for before? Lots of research and self assessment. No, I’m not going to tell you how much I quoted him, but he’ll said he’ll get back to me. I’ll keep you posted.”

Matt Bolton

Matt is in his third year studying Creative Writing and Business & Management. As a Student Fellow for the Broadcast Lab, Matt helps other students with any technical help they need and do any projects the university needs him to, as well as contributing to the running of the film-making society, SoftC. His particular area of interest is editing, and he’s aiming to become a freelance editor in the future. Straight after University, Matt’s hoping to get into post-production in the television/film-making industry around Bristol.

Matt’s Recent News

Matt Bolton was fortunate enough to attend Television and Young People in 2007, part of the Edinburgh International Television Festival. TVYP invites 150 young people with aspirations in the television industry to go to the EITF for free, and attend masterclasses, workshops and lectures hosted by some of the most important people in the trade. Classes by likes of Richard Woolfe, Controller of Sky One, Two and Three, and Krishnan Guru-Murphy were offset with lectures by Tim Hincks, Chief Creative Officer of Endemol UK, and the famous MacTaggart lecture, hosted this year by Jeremy Paxman. In addition, there was the opportunity to attend various other events, like presenter Simon Amstell in conversation with Hardeep Singh Kohli, and the Channel of the Year Awards. On top of all this was the chance to network and make contacts every evening.
