An exploration of haiku for the modern day, featuring Britain's leading haiku expert Alan Summers.

This Video was created in collaboration between two student arts groups and was the culmination of 'Haiku Week' a series of haiku related happenings set up by ambidextrous head honchos, Sam Reader and Emerson Leese. These included extracurricular workshops, boards placed around the department where people could leave haiku and even a telephone line where people could phone up and leave haiku messages.

Emerson has recently been accepted on to the MA in creative Writing, he and Sam are both featured in the film. Emerson's haiku is the one about toilet paper Sam's features 'The owls'

Good one guys! Very succinct, and thanks to the camera crew Soft C, who you also saw read haiku, for making me look and sound almost, well, almost, human! ;-) I liked the music as background to the images & text too. Thanks to all the students who took part, ambidextrous and Soft C. Alan a.k.a. haikutec

Poets, I really loved this video! Thanks goes to Alan for his great endeavor of sharing the haiku movement. I encourage all of you to come by http://haikuhut.net if you would like to keep working at your haiku voice! My favorite haiku is "the rain stops." Always, Dustin Neal

Hi Dann! Dustin (Neal), still in his early twenties, is fast becoming of the most exciting haiku poets in the U.S. You can find his Myspace site on my site. I will cop out, and say they are all my favourite haiku, because so much effort was put into them, but yes, I like your haiku! ;-)

Dann read at the Bath Can Openers event at The Raven on the 4th December 2006. He read his haiku, check it out above, and a marvellous poem as well. If you can catch any Bath Spa Univ. student reading haiku or other poetry, don't miss them!
