Students visit Globe Theatre in London

Added on 26 Nov 2008

Through the assistance of the Artswork PerformanceLab and the Department of Performing Arts, the 3rd year Drama Studies students on the newly introduced module Staging Shakespeare, spent a whole Day at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London. The day was spent in intensive study, rehearsals and workshops with Globe practitioners, researchers directors and actors.

The students were able to tour the theatre, learn about original practices and participate in many professional exercises. They staged a sword fight and were given the opportunity to perform on the Globe stage.

The students worked with Gwilym Jones, Glynn MacDonald, Giles Block, Philip Stafford and Yolanda Vazquez - all in residence at the Globe. It was a rich and rewarding experience.
